In part one we separated weather from climate. Now we put weather-language to work with a small, practical toolkit for naming inner states — without inflating them into something larger than they are.
Start with one of the most useful distinctions you can learn: the difference between a feeling-as-event and a feeling-as-identity.
A wave of restlessness arrived around three — this is a feeling-as-event. It has a time, a shape, and an implied ending.
I'm a restless person — this is a feeling-as-identity. It takes a passing wave and turns it into a fixed claim about who you are.
Event-language keeps things accurate, because most feelings genuinely are events: they come, they hold, they fade. It also keeps things kind. A wave arrived leaves room for the wave to leave. I'm a restless person quietly closes that door.
Here is one simple way to name a state. Treat it as optional, not prescriptive — a frame you can pick up when it helps and set down when it doesn't. There is no correct way to feel and nothing to score.
Name the state. A plain word: restlessness, flatness, brightness, irritation.
Note its texture. Is it sharp, heavy, light, fizzy? Texture turns a vague mood into something you can actually see.
Note its weather. Is it rising, holding, or fading? Movement reminds you the state is in motion, not fixed.
Let it pass. Resist forcing a story onto it. You don't have to explain a feeling for it to be real, and you don't have to resolve it for it to move on.
Name it, feel its texture, watch which way it's moving — and let it be weather.
Watch what happens when someone moves from a vague label to a specific description.
Answer every question, then submit to see how you did. You can retake it as often as you like — your score is just for you.

The specific version: The morning was flat and a bit heavy. A squall of irritation came through after lunch — sharp, then fading. By evening there was a lighter edge. Same day, but now it has texture and movement. Notice that the second version is not more cheerful — it is simply more honest. Naming did not chase the heaviness away. It made the day legible, and a legible day is one you can actually understand.
This matters, so let me be direct. Naming is for clarity and self-knowledge. It is not:
A way to chase a desired mood. If naming becomes a hunt for brightness, it has stopped being honest noticing.
A way to judge whether a microdose 'worked'. Mood moves for countless reasons, and turning a description into a verdict on a dose mistakes noticing for measurement.
Good noticing has no target. It simply tells the truth about the sky, including the grey.
And one last thing, said plainly. Some weather is too heavy to sit with alone — heaviness that does not lift, or a sky that frightens you. When that is the case, naming the state is not enough, and reaching out to a trusted person or a qualified professional is not a failure of noticing. It is noticing, done well. Knowing when a feeling is bigger than your own quiet attention is one of the most honest things a person can recognise.
Name what passes through. Hold it lightly. And when the weather is too much, let reaching out be the next thing you notice.
