Stand at a window on any given morning and you can describe what you see in two very different ways. You might say it is overcast and a little flat out there today. Or you might say this is a rainy region. The first is weather — the passing state of a particular hour. The second is climate — the long, structural pattern that holds across seasons and years. This course is built entirely on that distinction, because the same two ways of seeing apply to mood.
Mood, like weather, moves. A morning can feel grey and slow, then lift into a bright, clear edge after a walk. A calm afternoon can be crossed by a sudden squall of irritation that arrives, holds for twenty minutes, and is gone. None of these passing states is a verdict on who you are. They are simply what is moving through, right now.
Weather can be described without alarm and without self-judgement. You can say flat this morning the way you would say foggy by the river — as an observation, not an accusation. That openness is what makes honest noticing possible.
Climate is different. A settled, long-standing pattern of low mood that holds week after week is not weather, and it is not a topic for a course. It is something to bring to a qualified person — a doctor or mental-health professional. The weather metaphor is useful precisely because it tells you where its own edge is: the moment a state stops passing and starts staying, you have moved out of the territory this course can speak to.
Weather you can watch. Climate you take to someone trained to help.
Notice the difference between these two ways of speaking:
Weather-language: overcast and flat this morning · a bright clear edge after the walk · a sudden squall of irritation around three
Diagnostic-language: I am depressed · I have anxiety
Weather-language describes a passing state with texture and time. Diagnostic-language makes a fixed claim about a condition — and diagnosis belongs to trained professionals, not to a learner describing their morning. Throughout this course we use only the first kind. Not because feelings should be minimised, but because describing the passing thing keeps us accurate, kind, and honest about what we can and cannot know.
Answer every question, then submit to see how you did. You can retake it as often as you like — your score is just for you.

Let me be plain about what this course is, and is not:
It is a vocabulary for description — language for noticing what passes through.
It is not a tool for diagnosis or treatment, and nothing here is medical advice.
Microdosing is not presented as a remedy for any mood condition, full stop. We describe how people talk about experience; we never promise an effect.
The purpose of the lessons ahead is modest and, I hope, genuinely useful: to build careful, honest language for what moves through a day. Clearer words let you notice more clearly — and clearer noticing serves two ends. It helps you understand your own ordinary weather without inflating it. And, when the sky does not clear, it helps you describe what is happening to someone qualified to help, in words that are accurate rather than frightened or vague.
That is the whole motive behind take less, notice more: less noise, less story, less hurry to label — and in the quiet that opens, a more truthful view of the sky.
Watch the weather. Name it gently. And remember that some skies are for a professional, not a course.
