Editorial policy

Last updated: June 2026

This is a subject where the stakes can be high — your health, your safety, your peace of mind. That is why we hold ourselves to a standing editorial policy. This page explains how we make, check and update our content, so you know where our words come from and where their limits lie.

Evidence-based

We work from primary sources: peer-reviewed research, clinical literature and established harm-reduction organisations. We prefer original research over second-hand reporting, and we read the source itself before summarising it. Where research is preliminary, small or conflicting, we say so plainly.

Honest about uncertainty

Much of what is claimed about microdosing is not yet proven. We draw a clear line between what research suggests, what is anecdotal and what is simply unknown. We avoid confident promises and sensational language. If the honest answer is "we don't know yet," that is what we write.

Harm reduction first

Our guiding question is not "how do we convince you" but "how do we keep you safe." We name contraindications, interactions with medication and the moments when pausing or consulting a professional is wiser than going ahead. Harm reduction always outweighs a smooth story for us.

Not medical advice

All of our content is educational. None of it is medical, psychological or legal advice, and none of it replaces a conversation with a qualified professional. We write for adults making their own informed choices — not as a substitute for a doctor or therapist.

Legality and age

We write within a Netherlands legal framework: psilocybin truffles are legal in the Netherlands, and any products we reference are sold and shipped only within the Netherlands, to adults aged 18 or older. We never encourage illegal use and we remind readers of their own responsibility under the law of their country. Our content is intended for those aged 18 or older.

Review and updates

Every piece is read by at least one editor before it is published, with an eye to accuracy, tone and harm-reduction framing. We date our legal and policy pages and revise content when new evidence, changed legislation or better sources call for it. The science moves; our pages are allowed to move with it.

Corrections

We make mistakes and we correct them openly. If you see something inaccurate, out of date or misleading, please tell us at hello@microdosing.college — we take every report seriously and amend where needed.

Independence

Our editorial judgements are kept separate from commercial interests. If a page links to a product or store, that changes nothing about what we believe is honest to write about the risks and the limits. Education comes first.

Education, not medical advice. Nothing on this site replaces a conversation with a qualified professional.
