Last part we named four threads. Now let's give each a short, honest sketch — enough to recognise it, not yet enough to redesign it. Think of these as the four strands the whole course will eventually braid together.
Dose — whether, how much, how often. Notice that whether comes first: a legitimate answer for any given week is zero. Dose is not a number you are obligated to keep; it includes the option of none.
Rhythm — the cadence of the thing across weeks, seasons, and life events. Some periods are dense; some are spacious; some are paused entirely.
Body — sleep, food, movement, stress. This is the substrate any subtle effect grows in. Tired ground grows little.
Meaning — why you do this at all, and how you make sense of what you notice. Without it, a practice quietly drifts into habit.
That's the frame. Hold it loosely; we'll return to each thread in its own lesson.
Here is the first concrete skill of the whole course: take an honest baseline before you change anything.
A baseline is a calm, non-judgemental snapshot of where each thread sits right now, written down simply. Not where you wish it sat. Not where it sat at your best. Where it actually is this week.
Why does this matter so much? Because without a baseline, people misattribute. They have a bright, clear week and credit the dose — when the real variable was three good nights of sleep. They have a flat, foggy week and blame the dose — when the real variable was a stressful deadline or a family event. The dose gets the credit and the blame for things it had nothing to do with.
A baseline is what lets you tell the difference between what changed and what you changed.
You do not need a spreadsheet. A baseline can be four short lines, written once, kept somewhere you'll see them. Here is a tiny worked example:
Dose: "Not dosing right now; curious, not committed."
Rhythm: "No real cadence — sporadic, whenever I remember."
Body: "Sleep patchy, ~6 hrs; walking some; eating irregularly under deadline."
Responde cada pregunta y envíala para ver tu resultado. Puedes repetirlo tantas veces como quieras — la puntuación es solo para ti.

Meaning: "Honestly unsure why I'm drawn to this — want to find out."
Notice what those lines are not. They are not impressive. They are not graded. "Not dosing right now" is a completely valid baseline — remember, zero is a real answer for the dose thread. There are no failing entries here, because a baseline is an observation tool, not a scorecard.
If you find yourself wanting to fix a line as you write it — to make the sleep number better, to invent a tidier reason — pause. That urge is exactly what a baseline is meant to set aside. The job today is not improvement. It is honest noticing.
Write what's true, not what's flattering.
One line per thread is plenty.
Date it, so the future you knows where you started.
Then leave it alone. We're not redesigning anything yet.
That self-compassion is not softness; it's accuracy. You can only adjust a thread you've looked at squarely.
A baseline is a small, quiet act — a few honest lines on an ordinary day. But it is the ground the whole practice will be built on. Take less. Notice more — and start by simply noticing where you are.
