Somewhere in your reading you have probably met a protocol: a short, fixed schedule someone follows for a few weeks. Dose on these days, rest on those, count to a number, hold the line. Protocols are useful. They are also, by design, temporary — a scaffold, not a home.
This capstone is about something different. A practice is an evolving, personal relationship with attention and care — one that can bend across years of an actual life, with its travel and grief and good seasons and flat ones. A protocol is a rule you obey. A practice is a relationship you tend.
The distinction matters because the whole course turns on it.
The goal was never to dose forever, or to optimise endlessly. It was to build a way of paying attention to yourself that outlasts any single substance.
Picture two people.
The first treats their plan like an exam. For six weeks they white-knuckle a flawless protocol — every dose weighed to the milligram, every day logged, no slips. It is impressive. Then life arrives: a deadline, a cold, a hard week. The perfect run breaks, and because the whole thing was built on perfection, they quit. Six tidy weeks, then nothing.
The second person keeps a light, imperfect rhythm for two years. They miss days. They take long stretches at zero. Some entries are one scribbled line. It is not impressive on paper — and it is still going, still teaching them, long after the first person stopped.
A practice you can genuinely sustain beats an ambitious one you abandon.
Durability comes from being gentle and flexible, not strict and brittle.
Missed days are not failures; they are simply part of a real life.
That is the spirit of this work. Less heroics, more staying power.
Let's be plain and early about the frame, because it shapes everything that follows.
This course is educational. It describes what people report and how things are defined; it does not prescribe what you should do.
It makes no medical claims and promises no outcomes. Nothing here treats, cures, or guarantees anything.

On legality: truffles are legal only in the Netherlands, and only for adults aged 18 and over. This is not encouragement to do anything illegal anywhere else.
Hold those lines lightly but firmly. They are not fine print; they are part of the practice.
The rest of this course will weave together four threads. Today you only need to know their names — we will not yet touch how they combine.
Dose — whether, how much, how often.
Rhythm — the cadence across weeks, seasons, and life events.
Body — sleep, food, movement, stress: the ground anything subtle grows in.
Meaning — why you do this at all, and how you make sense of what you notice.
No design steps yet. No weaving. Just the orienting distinction and the tone we'll keep: calm, honest, unhurried.
Take less. Notice more. The practice begins not with a dose, but with the decision to pay attention.
