In part 1 we said the dose opens a window and integration is what you do around it. Now let's give that a map you can carry through the whole course. Every window has three phases, and each asks something different of you.
Before — set and setting. What you bring to the window: your intention, your mood, your environment.
During — gentle noticing. While attention is a little looser, the work is simply to observe, not to chase a result.
After — consolidation. The calm hours and days afterward, where reflection actually settles into something you can use.
Most people pour all their attention into during and quietly skip the other two. That is precisely backwards.
These two words come up constantly in this field, so let's define them cleanly — as conditions for noticing, not as instructions for dosing.
Set is the inner condition you arrive with: your mood, your state of mind, what you are hoping for or dreading, how rested or frayed you are.
Setting is the outer condition around you: the room, the noise, the people, whether you have space and quiet or are squeezing reflection into a chaotic morning.
Both shape what you are able to notice. Arrive anxious and over-scheduled, in a loud room, and the window mostly shows you your own static. Arrive reasonably settled, with a little quiet, and you can actually see what the day is doing. None of this is about chasing a stronger effect — it is about giving your attention a fair chance to land.
Here is the most under-rated idea in this lesson:
Most people treat a dose day as finished when the effects fade. Integration argues the most valuable work happens in the calm afterward.
The after phase is where reflection consolidates — and it is the phase almost everyone neglects. The window closing is not the end of the work; it is the start of it.
Picture two people who notice the exact same thing — a flash of irritation at a small interruption. The first lets the feeling pass with the effects and never thinks of it again. The second revisits it the next morning, with a clear head, and asks:
Beantworte jede Frage und sende sie ab, um dein Ergebnis zu sehen. Du kannst den Test so oft wiederholen, wie du möchtest — das Ergebnis ist nur für dich.

So how do you set up a window without demanding a breakthrough? With a single, modest intention — and it belongs to the before phase.
An intention here is not a goal and not a grand ask. It is one honest, non-grandiose question you hold loosely, such as:
Where do I rush today?
What am I avoiding?
Where do I feel most at ease?
Notice what these are not. They are not fix my anxiety or show me a life-changing truth. A demand for a breakthrough usually produces only strain. A gentle question simply tilts your attention and then gets out of the way. Hold it loosely — if nothing comes, nothing is wrong. Intentions are for attention, not for curing anything.
That keeps us firmly in non-clinical territory: we are tuning what you notice, not treating a condition or promising a result.
That is lesson 1. You now have the frame — window, not wand — and the map: before, during, after, with set and setting shaping what you can see and the after-phase quietly doing the heavy lifting. In lesson 2 we hand you the concrete tool for capturing all of it: a four-minute journal, simple enough to actually keep.
