Imagine someone hands you a thermometer reading and asks, "Is that high?" You can't answer without knowing what's normal. The body works the same way. A change you notice after a dose means nothing until you know your ordinary range — your baseline.
This is the second foundation of the course, and it comes before any dose-day observation you'll ever make. In part one we separated signals from outcomes. Here we add the thing that makes a signal readable at all: something to read it against.
A change without a baseline isn't a signal. It's a guess.
As always: this is education, not medical advice. We make no promises about your body. Truffles are legal only in the Netherlands, for adults 18 and over.
Your sleep, energy and appetite swing every day for dozens of ordinary reasons that have nothing to do with a microdose. A late night. An extra coffee. A stressful week at work. A heavy meal. Grey weather. Each of these moves the same dials a dose might move.
Because of that noise, a single observation proves almost nothing. If you feel sharp the morning after your first dose, that could be the dose — or it could be the good night's sleep you also had, or the walk you took, or simple novelty and excitement. One good day after a dose does not show the dose caused it. Neither does one bad day.
So before you change anything, learn your own weather first.
Spend at least a week or two — two is better — simply observing, before you start dosing. Each day, lightly note three things on these undosed days:
Sleep: roughly how you slept, in your own words.
Daytime energy: how steady or drained you felt across the day.
General bodily mood: restless, calm, heavy, light — whatever fits.
Keep it to a line or two. The goal isn't precision; it's familiarity. After a couple of weeks you'll start to recognise your ordinary fluctuation — the natural spread between your good days and flat days when nothing unusual is going on. That range is your baseline. Only against it can a later change mean anything.
Once you do begin dosing, the single most honest question you can ask is:
Responde cada pregunta y envíala para ver tu resultado. Puedes repetirlo tantas veces como quieras — la puntuación es solo para ti.

This is the confounding-variable idea, in plain language. A confounder is anything other than the dose that could explain what you noticed. The usual suspects:
Coffee, and how late you drank it
Alcohol the night before
A hard workout, or none at all
A stressful day or a poor night's sleep
Every one of these moves sleep, energy and mood — the very dials you're watching. So before you credit the dose for a good day, or blame it for a bad one, run through the list. Often the honest answer is "I also slept badly and had three coffees," and the dose drops out of the explanation entirely.
This is why honest noticing is slower than it looks. The dose is rarely the only thing that changed, and usually not the loudest.
Here's where this connects to protocols you may already know. Every common microdosing schedule — Fadiman, Stamets, and the rest — builds in regular off-days. People often treat those as merely "days you don't dose." They are more than that.
Off-days are baseline days. They keep showing you your undosed normal, again and again, right alongside your dose-days — so the comparison never goes stale. A protocol isn't just spacing out the dose; it's preserving the contrast that lets you read anything at all.
That's the quiet logic underneath the calendar. Dose-days give you something to notice. Off-days give you something to notice it against. Keep both, and the body becomes legible.
